All-Maritime Plan Puts Brooklyn Marine Terminal Back to Work

Alternative vision treats publicly owned port as freight and emergency infrastructure—not surplus land

Developed by Resilient Red Hook and the City Club of New York, the Blue Highway Hub proposal offers an all-maritime alternative to the redevelopment framework currently being floated by the NYC Economic Development Corporation.

WHY: Nearly 90 percent of goods entering New York City arrive by truck across aging and vulnerable infrastructure. The all-maritime Blue Highway Hub plan shows how restoring Brooklyn Marine Terminal’s freight capacity can strengthen supply chains, reduce congestion and emissions, and keep goods moving when other systems fail.
